Chongqing University is one of the key universities in China. Founded in 1929, Chongqing University became a national comprehensive university consisting of six colleges in liberal arts, science, engineering, business, law and medicine in the 1940s. The reform and opening-up policy in China further accelerated the process of the University’s developing itself into a comprehensive research-oriented institution of higher education. Chongqing University currently has 35 schools, with a total enrollment of 25,000 undergraduate students, 20,000 graduate students and over 1,800 international students.
With four campuses across the city, Chongqing University covers a total area of about 3.47 square kilometers. The university library is well equipped with modern facilities, with a large collection of 4.5 million volumes, 6,500 kinds of Chinese and foreign periodicals and 3.2 million volumes of E-books.
Chongqing University attaches great importance to international academic exchange and cooperation. It has so far established relationships with 124 institutions of higher education in more than 20 countries around the world. Each year, a great number of students from both home and abroad participate in the international exchange programs it offers.
